APAGS Q&A with APA President-Elect Candidates

APAGS is hosting a live virtual Q&A event with the 2024 APA president-elect candidates. Register now for a chance to learn more about their campaigns and get answers to questions about their plans for stepping into the role of president in 2026, especially on graduate student-related matters.

APAGS Convention

August 8–10, 2024

APAGS will host a wide variety of programming geared specifically towards graduate students in psychology at the upcoming APA Convention in Seattle, Washington. Explore this list of all APAGS programming and be sure to stay up-to-date by downloading the APA 2024 app.

Students of Color: Join the APAGS-CARED Peer Collaboration Program this Fall

Deadline to apply: August 20, 2024, 11:59 p.m. (CT)

This program, developed for racially and ethnically minoritized graduate students in psychology, is a 10-week initiative designed to connect participants with peers who share their journey. Through virtual meetings and ongoing communication, you’ll build a supportive network to share experiences, gain insights, and foster professional growth. Morgan T. Sammons Doctoral Student Award
Deadline: August 1, 2024
Amount: $5,000

Named in honor of the National Register’s CEO from 2014–2022, this award is presented annually to two currently enrolled students in good standing in an APA- or CPA-accredited doctoral program in psychology and members of the National Register Associate Program. The award is designed to advance clinically oriented research projects that optimize the contributions of health service psychologists in the broader healthcare environment, and that further the National Register’s goals of increasing psychology’s role in interprofessional health service.

The Register will prioritize original research projects that advance understanding of the effectiveness of psychological interventions and their contribution toward improved patient outcomes. Each recipient will receive a plaque, a check for $5,000 to fund their project, and an award citation in the Journal of Health Service Psychology.

2024 APAGS/Psi Chi Junior Scientist Fellowship

APAGS and Psi Chi are committed to promoting psychological science and the needs of research-oriented students. The $1,000 Junior Scientist Fellowship provides support for students entering their first year, or the first semester of their second year, of a research-oriented graduate program.

APA/APAGS Awards for Distinguished Graduate Student in Professional Psychology
Deadline to apply: August 31, 2024

This award is presented to a graduate student who has demonstrated outstanding practice and application of psychology. Qualified candidates must demonstrate exemplary performance in working with an underserved population in an applied setting or have developed an innovative method for delivering health services to an underserved population.
